Furnish custom architectural fixtures for a remodeled grocery store space.

Design build customer (Storemasters) came to Woodwrights during the design phase of this project to get consulting assistance with multiple fixtures to be placed in a complete remodel of a grocery store space. The requirements for the space included multiple material elements seamlessly integrated to create an experiential space, while maintaining a clean aesthetic.

The Challenges We Tackled:

1. Timeline

This timeline was nearly 10 months in the planning stages before anymaterial was ever ordered for production. Production was completed in roughly 10 weeks.

2. Unique material requirements

Unique laminates, laminated strand lumber, lighting, veneer, metal and plastic were all integrated throughout the store.

3. Complex designs or specifications

The Barrel Unit, Cheese Display and Health Fixture

4. On the go Design revisions

This project spent much longer in the design phase than most of our standard projects and allowed us to design and flawlessly bring the owner’s vision to life.

The Wow Factor: Custom Unique Fixtures

1. Barrel Unit

Very large metal fixture, made to look like aging oak barrels primarily used in alcohol aging. The fixture was about 14 feet off the ground and held more than 40 barrels, making the weight of the unit a large factor in it’s design and production. The customer filled the racking system to spell out the store name using the barrels.

2. Cheese Display

Cheese Display – This unit was not only integrated into the existing wall but was curved as well.

3. Health Fixture

Health Fixture – This fixture was designed using laminated strand lumber.
